2 of my wife's jw friends had dinner with her last night and pleaded to know what was going on.
were we taking a "break"?
was there anything said that hurt us?
Minimus,
I am glad to hear of your wifes diplomatic efforts at handling the enquiring minds; if they were friends, I am sure they all had good intentions. But be prepared for it to come back at you by way of visiting elders who "heard" differently, and want to visit with you to aid you spiritually. You were one of them and know how they think. You know the drill. They will just not let you go peacefully, or on your terms.
Best of luck with the situation
Frank
think of your friends in the jws and think of your friends now.
how do they compare?
think of loyalty, trust, being there for you.
Amazing how we all have had the same experiences with old JW friends!
Sirona, do not feel bad about them ignoring you . My non JW wife and I decided to move into the small town where I grew up ( north shore of Long Island , NY) because it is a very nice suburb and great place to raise a family. When I see old JW friends from 25 years ago ( it happens occasionaly in this place) they cross the street to avoid greeting me and my small children . What creeps they all turned out to be!! Real creeps to snub children! I agree with you that the new "wordly" friends I have made are truly nice people. I have learned that there is good people and bad people everywhere; and I have learned to find the good. However, with the JWs, I am still looking.
I have found solace with x JWs on this forum. Have not encountered any others anywhere. I do feel like I among among friends through this website.

checking in from new england where the snow is still falling steadily.
its been snowing since friday here and were pretty much buried under about 30 inches already in this particular part of massachusetts.
just came in from walking to dunkin donuts for coffee after digging out the car.
Flower,
I know what you are saying, I am posting from Long Island and we got socked with snow. The reports all said 3"-5" and when it all ended, we had about 24-30"!! very unseasonal and no one was really prepared.
Frank, ( of the "carry my own snow shovel and dig out ", class)
those of you know know me have probably noticed.
i haven't been posting very much.
and this is in part due to my health problems and how they are affecting me.. i got those $400 orthotics to put in my shoes.

after reading blondie's wt.
review, we can't help but see how the society and much of society in general views women and men.
women are supposed to be subservient and in subjection to males.
This is an interesting topic.
For the first time in history, women are on an equal footing with men ( or very close to it) in society, (or to avoid that JW inferred meaning to that word0 ; in contemporary culture. While there may still be a "glass ceiling" in some areas of the business world, the female species has become a true equal to the male( not a "complement to" , as I was taught as a JW). Women can bring home the bacon, be presidents and executives of corporations ; firemen; policeman and do things that only a man would be doing a generation ago.
On that note, it is interesting to see how many women "subject" themselves in the WTBTS. Why? What insecurites do they deal with which drive them to that position? And if you try to tell them this in a rational way, as I did with a savvy elders wife after I had left, I was told " because that is how Jehovah wants it".
I like to think that my marriage is a truly equal arrangement. While my wife was a career girl when I married her ( she was not-never was- a JW) she is a stay at home mom, by choice.( my better half may have other thoughts about this) But I fully consider her my equal in all things, especially any and all decisions relating to our home and children, and of course, how the money is budgeted and spent. I admit that I think she is smarter than me ( well, in some things, I might excel just a little) . But I know as a JW, I would not think this way.
And that is very disturbing to me.
As for children; all I can think of is GIFT. My children are like the "icing on the cake". And my wife and I consider them the smiling focus of our lives. Their health; well being and education is the driving force in our current little "nucleur family". Our lives consist of homework, soccer, dance, music, preschool, PTA...all voluntary; and you have got to love it because it takes over your life....my childhood consisted of going door to door and bible studies...BIG difference. It is wonderful to see children smile and laugh., and actually having fun as they grow up.

a friend of mine sent this to me.
too bad this didn't work for all the silentlamb victims!
jehovah's witness.
I am sure this will be announced as an expeience at the next circuit assembly and used as a poster expample.... the JWs will use this to their advantage.
good side is that the boy was able to escape from the situation....hope he is ok, and the molester caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law
this really made me 'wonder': .
